Taco Tuesdays are a favorite in my family. Tacos are one of the few meals that all six of us can happily agree on. So, I’ve taken advantage of this fact and come up with a few “secrets” to making this a healthy meal as possible for us.
1.) Homemade taco seasoning. Simple and minus the MSG. Recipe below.
2.) Adding a few extra ingredients to the ground meat mixture. I add a teaspoon of flax seed and mix the meat with a 1/3 of a bag of Morningstar “ground meat” Mixture for two reasons. It cuts back on the fat and makes the taco meat go further.
Homemade Taco Seasoning
1 tablespoon chili powder 1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon onion powder 1teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes 1 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
